We are extremely excited about our Goalkeeping program. Our Goalkeeping Program is led by Sac Republic’s Goalkeeper, Dominik Jakubek…current keeper for Sac Republic.
In addition to playing with the Republic for the last 3 years, Dominik’s playing career includes time with:
- the Columbus Crew of the MLS
- the California Cougars
- Chico State
Dominik is obviously a very knowledgeable keeper and he brings an energy level that gets the best out of our goalies. Dominik has developed a keeper curriculum that is broken down by age group:
Ages 8, 9 & 10
Most of our youngest keepers play both in goal and on the field. Learning footskills is an important part of becoming a good goalie. We develop total soccer players and that philosophy includes the keepers in our club.
The curriculum for our youngest keepers include the basics of diving, catching and distributing.
By now, our intermediate age keepers are dedicated to their position and the training reflects that dedication. The keeper curriculum for this age groups covers the following topics: Shot stopping, covering angles, ball handling, distribution with hands & feet, setting walls, communication, crosses and diving.
Our senior keepers are well versed in the goalkeeping skills. We now focus more on the individual needs of each keeper. The curriculum covers all of the topics that are covered for our intermediate keepers but at a more advanced level.
